Muhammad Hidayat

Muhammad Hidayat is a self-taught type designer and lettering artist, and the founder of Aqrstudio, established in 2018. Driven by a lifelong fascination with the subtle power of letterforms, Muhammad discovered his passion for typography through everyday tools like Microsoft Word. What began as curiosity soon became a dedication to exploring how type can shape communication and evoke emotion.

Through Aqrstudio, Muhammad has built a personal and professional platform for crafting typefaces that merge emotional warmth with commercial usability. His work reflects a philosophy rooted in precision, storytelling, and the belief that typography is more than visual form—it’s a bridge between culture and message.

As a designer, he specializes in developing display and branding typefaces that celebrate expressive curves, structural rhythm, and tailored usability. Each font is meticulously designed with attention to fine detail, featuring forms that cater to both contemporary trends and timeless aesthetics. His typefaces are created to serve a wide range of platforms—from digital interfaces to print materials—providing designers and brands with flexible tools for visual storytelling.

Muhammad’s creative process is deeply hands-on, often beginning with sketching by hand before evolving into digital production using tools like Glyphs and Illustrator. He draws inspiration from vernacular signage, calligraphy, and the interaction between tradition and modernity in Indonesian visual culture. His goal is to contribute to the global typographic landscape with typefaces that are not only functional but filled with heart and narrative.

Beyond type design, Muhammad enjoys experimenting with lettering compositions and collaborating with creatives across the type design community. Aqrstudio’s fonts are available for commercial licensing, and its work has been featured by independent designers and small businesses alike for its charm and personality.
