Customs Paperwork Pro AOE draws its inspiration from the distinctive keystroke impressions produced by vintage mechanical typewriters, specifically the NuMode Type No. 61 keyset used in early office machines. Preserved within the Astigmatic Institute’s Documentary Typography Collection, the typeface recreates the warmth and irregular texture that defined official paperwork, correspondence, and government documentation throughout much of the twentieth century. Unlike modern digital typefaces with perfectly uniform strokes, Customs Paperwork reflects the subtle variations produced by mechanical typewriters—slight inconsistencies in ink density, pressure, and ribbon wear that gave every page a uniquely human character. These qualities make the typeface ideal for projects that require authenticity and historical atmosphere.
