Sobre a família

KSW Uberground Pro is a versatile all-caps font with multi-lingual (extended Latin and Cyrillic) support that combines the advantages of German and British schools of the early 20th century.

The balance of originality, readability, geometric modernism, and restrained brutalism creates a unique and recognizable style. This font is an excellent choice for titling, branding, posters, signs, navigation, industrial design, and more.

The precise geometric grid is based on early specifications of “Engschrift” developed by the German Institute for Standardisation (DIN) in 1927. However, its proportions transformed to an even stricter width-to-height ratio of 1:2. The German precision of the ‘English’ font combined with a truly British design. Glyph forms took inspiration from the font known as ‘Mandatory’, introduced by Charles Wright type foundry in 1935 and still used on UK license plates nowadays. For utilitarian purposes, even commonly similar characters in this font are noticeably distinguishable from one to another, making the font easy and quick to read.

OpenType features are available for extended Latin and Cyrillic letters and symbols:

• Lots of stylistic alternates

• Recognizable historical angled terminals

• Simplified forms (A, V, I and more)

• Different glyph widths (W, M)

• Different angles of inclination (K, S)

• Shifted vertical centers (P, R)

• Different heights for all types of brackets

• Uppercase

Sobre Koshawa

Koshawa is a small design studio once founded somewhere in Eastern Europe and now based in Belgrade, Serbia. The name we chose, originates from “košava” — just one of the many terms for the unique southeastern wind. It blows over Europe from the Carpathian Mountains to the Adriatic Sea. Piercing sharp and cold, yet simultaneously free and infused with the influence of different cultures and languages it encounters, this wind brings us inspiration. Our mission is to consciously reevaluate aesthetics and heritage, principles and concepts of various European 20th-century design schools to create better design in the present and future.
