Technical products have to speak for the machine and to the person using it. Controls, specifications, and model names require order and precision; manuals, quick-start cards, and product pages must remain approachable enough to be read. Scheme brings those requirements into one typographic voice. It can label a synthesizer panel or laboratory device, then continue into the paragraph that explains how it works.

The design began with lettering found on vintage typewriter keycaps. That influence survives in Scheme’s narrow proportions, even strokes, and rounded terminals, while the lowercase adds curls and turns that would be unnecessary on a purely mechanical alphabet. Scheme looks manufactured without looking standardized; it suggests a machine designed to be operated by a person.

That combination suits products where typography lives close to buttons, switches, dials, and displays. Mechanical keyboards, synthesizers, audio equipment, guitar pedals, measuring instruments, educational electronics, and workshop tools all need names, control labels, packaging, setup cards, and instructions. Scheme can maintain a consistent voice across those materials without making every surface resemble industrial safety equipment.

Science museums and educational publishers face a similar communication problem. An exhibition about computing, sound synthesis, transportation, communications, or laboratory equipment needs inviting titles alongside artifact labels and substantial wall text. STEM kits require packaging, experiment cards, diagrams, and instructions that can interest a beginner. Scheme gives those materials a recognizable structure from the first heading to the final explanation.

Most importantly, Scheme can set real paragraphs. Its readable lowercase, open forms, and steady rhythm support manuals, captions, exhibit text, and public-information guides, allowing a project to retain the same typographic character beyond its headlines. Its Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic coverage further suits international exhibitions, technical publishing, and multilingual public communication.
