TA Bankslab is a robust and authoritative slab serif typeface born from the architectural heritage of Baku. Its story begins at the former Northern Bank of St. Petersburg branch, Baku’s first Art Nouveau building, constructed between 1903 and 1905. Inspired by the Cyrillic word "Банкъ" engraved on its historical facade, this typeface is a meticulous digital revival of a lost piece of lettering.

The journey to create TA Bankslab was a careful study of historical imperfections. The original building letters featured distinct midlines and varying serif heights. By balancing these unique architectural quirks with modern typographic standards, the font captures both the raw structural feel of early 20th-century banking and the refined precision required for today’s designs. The development process involved extensive research into historical slab serifs, drawing inspiration from leading Cyrillic typography experts to ensure accurate and extensive multilingual support for both Latin and Cyrillic scripts.

Featuring 10 distinct styles, including 7 weights ranging from Thin to Extra Black, alongside Outline, Shadow, and a special Art Nouveau style inspired by the building's background textures, TA Bankslab offers exceptional versatility. It is an impeccable choice for financial branding, traditional editorial headlines, and corporate identities that need to project unwavering reliability and historical depth.
