NATH !* Is a peculiar typeface. It’s design came by the fascination of Optical Illusions and 3D on a flat surface, like with Holborn and Powerplay. The typeface is named after a girlfriend of André Toet. *Made in the UK, 1974, London (Central School of Art & Design). (Redesigned 2013 by André Toet / Jasper Terra). André Toet believes in typefaces that can be used not only in print but in lots of different ways, like lighting, jewelry design, textile or even furniture. His typefaces: Alphatool, Altera, Artù & Artù Super Heavy Bold, Billiard, Bloggy, Bombola, Bulky, Découpé, Frutta, Herengracht, Holborn, MMM, Mezzo, Nath!, PiPi, Powerplay, Quipo, RiFF-RaFF (Regular & Bold), Skewy, Specx, Specx (Stencil), Strano, Straw, Tremolo, Wolfszn and Wyggle give designers a lot of possibilities to use them in a creative way. André Toet: Born in The Hague, The Netherlands. Educated at the KABK (Gerrit Noordzij), The Hague 1970-1974 and Central School of Art & Design (Nicolete Gray), London 1974-1975. He worked as a designer at Total Design (Jurriaan Schrofer, Wim Crouwel), Amsterdam 1976-1980. Started (SO)Design 1983-2015 with Marianne Vos. He now lives and works in Amsterdam and Rosennano (Tuscany, Italy). André is a designer, judge and educator, he creates stylistic designs in different fields. Originally trained in graphic design and winner of international awards (D&AD, OneShowSilver, RedDotAwards, NYAD, GoldenBee’s, TokyoTypeDirectorsClub) for his designs, he also became a skilled typedesigner.
