Manau Quellec

Manau Quellec, originally from Créteil, studied graphic design and editorial practices at ÉSAD Amiens. Afterward, they completed the postgraduate programme in Type Design at EsadType. His diverse experiences include studying at Bauhaus University in Germany, working at Oaza Studio and in a publishing house in Zagreb, and interning at Contrast Foundry. Passionate about newspaper typography, Anglo-Saxon tabloids, and British billboards, he developed Newz during his studies at EsadType. Influenced by the lettering and visual culture of 18th-century English newspapers while embracing the aesthetics of early 21st-century popular culture, the typeface was awarded the Gerard Unger Scholarship and will be published by TypeTogether.
