Sobre la familia

Roman Coin Trajan is a monumental display family inspired by Trajanic capitals and the legends of Trajan’s coinage (AD 98–117)—the same formal language that shaped the Column of Trajan and “Optimus Princeps” inscriptions. The design favors classical proportions, crisp serifs, and a dignified vertical rhythm.

Perfect for museums, heritage brands, classical publishing, civic identity, film titles, and luxury packaging. Six weights—from Regular to Black—cover everything from refined invitations to bold campaign headlines.

The character set includes a focused Latin repertoire of capitals, lowercase, figures, and punctuation, optimized for display hierarchy rather than long text. Weights are consistent in structure so logos and title systems scale cleanly.

Roman Coin Trajan pairs with readable old-style or transitional text serifs and with understated sans for UI. In the Roman Coin series, Nero, Claudius, Domitian, and Vitellius offer coin-legend alternatives with more compact, mint-struck texture; Trajan is the inscriptional, column-scale voice.

For projects that need the authority of Rome at its height—clear, imperial, and built to last on the page and on screen.

Acerca de Numisma Type

Numisma Type Foundry is an independent type design studio exploring the visual language of historical inscriptions, coinage, engraving, and material culture. Our work transforms historical letterforms into contemporary digital typefaces while preserving the distinctive character of their original sources. We study inscriptions, engraved lettering, mint marks, and the irregularities created by hand tools, dies, metal, wear, and time. Our Roman Coin Type Collection is the foundation of this approach, with typefaces inspired by the epigraphic character of Roman imperial coinage, including Nero, Claudius, Domitian, and Vitellius. Future collections explore Byzantine, Greek, Slavic, and other historical lettering traditions. Numisma Type Foundry combines historical research, visual reconstruction, and modern technology to create distinctive typefaces for editorial design, branding, packaging, publishing, cultural institutions, digital products, and display typography. Ancient letters, reconstructed for contemporary design.
