Sobre la familia

Rudelou AOE appears to originate from a stable sans serif alphabet that has been interrupted by an unusual outer distortion, producing the visual effect of motion frozen in place. Within the Institute’s anomaly records, the specimen is cataloged as a typographic interference pattern: a letterform whose clean structural skeleton remains intact while a chaotic halo surrounds each stroke. At its core, Rudelou maintains the clarity of a modern sans serif, but every glyph is encircled by a restless echo layer that suggests vibration, static, or transmission interference. The irregular edges resemble dry brush drag or degraded film type, giving the alphabet an unstable texture that appears to flicker even in static compositions. This tension between structure and disruption gives the typeface a unique visual energy. The letters appear to tremble, as if caught between two states of resolution, creating a sense of motion, distortion, and controlled chaos. Rudelou AOE is particularly effective in designs that require a feeling of tension or disruption. It performs well in experimental graphics, distressed modern layouts, alternative music branding, horror and paranormal themes, underground posters, and editorial projects exploring instability, interference, or visual noise.

Acerca de Astigmatic

In 1873, the strange and fantastic story began. Nearly two centuries later, Brian J. Bonislawsky was born, and carrying on a mix of the the footsteps his ancestors before him took, he picked up the the traditions and founded the Astigmatic One Eye Foundry, which later expanded to become the Astigmatic One Eye Typographic Institute. (For more of the background story, see the Historical Perspective link below.) Since its founding Astigmatic has worked with dozens of designers, helping them forge their own foundries as well as helping to increase the quality of type created by Astigmatic and these other foundries. Astigmatic strives to continually increase its range of typographic scope; taking on expeditions to revive old typestyles, unearth long lost typefaces, forge new styles yet unseen, and begin to develop more comprehensive language typestyles of the WGL4 set size which includes Greek and Cyrillic extensions. If you are looking for a wide variety of typographic influence and style, the Astigmatic One Eye Institute is your source for type.
