Artigo is an old style inspired typeface system for text. It was inspired by the handwriting aspect of the first roman types but it intends to be a contemporary interpretation. Founder
Joana Correia
Joana Correia is a multi-award-winning type designer and founder of Nova Type Foundry, established in Porto, Portugal in 2018. She holds a background in architecture and graphic design, with an MA in Typeface Design from the University of Reading, UK, which she completed in 2011. Correia's work combines traditional and modern elements, creating expressive fonts that infuse content with emotion. She has designed notable typefaces like Artigo, Laca, Anona, and Loretta. Nova Type Foundry focuses on cultivating creativity, collaboration, and education, offering a range of services including retail typefaces, custom fonts, language extensions, and consulting. Correia previously taught type design for seven years but now dedicates her time to designing and running the foundry.
