Akhilesh Gupta

Akhilesh S. Gupta is an independent type designer and font developer specializing in Devanagari typography. His strength lies in a detailed, practical understanding of the Devanagari script—including its letters, vowel signs, consonants, conjuncts, numerals and other script-specific characters—and how they need to work together in digital type. His approach to type design is strongly informed by the practical requirements of digital typography and by many years of working directly with Devanagari fonts. He has also worked extensively with font hinting to develop and refine instructions for improved rendering at small sizes. This combination of script knowledge, type design and technical font-development experience is reflected in his work on Akhil HE.
