During my design adventures I have always been looking to merge graphic & typographic design and illustration into intriguing communication. But after working in the design field for some years I needed to broaden my horizon. Choosing to study at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK, the Hague), I was able to discover ways to combine my skills and interests, resulting in a way of working that merges shape, context and most importantly of all: humor. Through my type foundry, Typearture, I explore the conventions of written language, combine typefaces with concepts and look to enrich the typographic world with a different take on what a typeface can or should be. And this is all combined with a healthy dose of humor, satire or commentary hidden under every keystroke.
