ATF
Australian Type Foundry
The foundry of type designer Wayne Thompson. Australian Type Foundry™ [ATF] began in 2001 and has produced custom typefaces for Lego, Tourism Australia, Officeworks, the National Rugby League (NRL) competition, Holden Automotive, O'Brien Glass, ALDI, and Flight Centre among others. In 2016 Wayne developed the ABCSans and ABCSerif families which are currently in widespread use across the Australian national broadcaster’s digital and television networks. He also enjoys working for smaller clients such as a micro brewery who paid him in beer. Wayne has a Masters degree in Typeface Design (MResTD) from the University of Reading, UK, the world’s most highly regarded type design program. From 2023 to 2025, he served as a board member of ATypI. Wayne’s aim is to always learn more about typography, and hopefully contribute an Aussie flavour to the world of type design. Wayne has never won any awards.
