About the family

Barmeno®, designed by Hans Reichel and originally released by H. Berthold AG in 1983, was later reissued as a digital family by Monotype. It now benefits from four weights: regular to extra bold, each with an italic companion. Barmeno’s rounded terminals, condensed proportions, and flowing letterforms convey an inviting warmth to display and large-text applications.

Barmeno’s rounded shapes have even been featured in the circular displays of luxury watch faces. Its friendly yet refined tone makes Barmeno ideal for a variety of upscale products. Barmeno’s curve-based sans serif design has added a welcoming and affable aesthetic to a range of products and services as diverse as luxury cosmetics and craft beverages.

Whether marking time on a watch dial, adorning a boutique skincare label, or defining a microbrewery’s identity, Barmeno delivers with harmonious elegance.

About Berthold

The H. Berthold typefoundry, renowned for crafting high-quality typefaces, was founded in 1858 by Hermann Berthold in Berlin. By 1918 the foundry had become the largest in the world, with offices in Stuttgart, St. Petersburg, Leipzig, Riga, Budapest and Vienna. To complement its proprietary typesetting equipment business activities, Berthold developed high quality typefaces. The H. Berthold foundry’s most celebrated family of typefaces is arguably Akzidenz-Grotesk (released 1896), known as the mother of all sans serifs. The Premium foundry page can be viewed Here.
