Bernd Hülsmann is a professional communication and type designer from Münsterland/ NRW, Germany.
After successfully graduating from the Münster School of Design at Münster University of Applied Sciences, he further developed his Semikolon Fonts Family, which was the subject of his diploma thesis in 2009.
In over 20 years of professional experience, he has worked in the advertising and design departments of international companies as an employed graphic designer and freelancer, creating logos and visual concepts for catering, services, the education sector and non-profit organisations.
Developing his own typeface had been on the graphic designer‘s to-do list for many years. He intensively analysed the problem of legibility and developed Semikolon Fonts for easier reading.
Ambiguous or similar letters often cause confusion and are a major obstacle, especially for beginners and people with visual impairments.
With his particularly legible Semikolon Fonts, the father of two children wants to make his contribution to inclusive design, a ‘design for all’, break down barriers and thus promote participation.
