About the family

BETAMAX TYPEFACE is a design that rewinds you straight back to the era of VHS, arcades, and analog pop culture, reinterpreting this imagery through a contemporary lens. Although it is a typeface inspired by late 20th-century technology, it is a recent creation with no formal connection to the historic video format that gives it its name. The aesthetic of Betamax blends nostalgia and freshness, making it ideal for projects that want to deliver a recognizable pop retro wink. Use it for designs that seek to connect with the past while visualizing clearly in the present. Just like the arcade games of the 80s: "BETAMAX, GET READY TO PLAY!".

About Cuchi, qué tipo

"Cuchi, ¡qué tipo! / Hey, what a man!" is really a wordplay nickname for Carlos Campos ("tipo" in spanish means both type and guy, and "cuchi" is an andalusian colloquial expression for "hey" or "look"). Carlos Campos is a graphic designer and professor of typography from Jaén (Andalusia, Spain). He is especially interested in promoting typographic culture through the investigation and recovery of the traditional signs and letters of his city and from popular folclore. His fonts are very expressive, colorful and bold, with a unique personality, as the result of the visual culture that surrounds him. You can be sure that if you use some of his typefaces, people will say "Cuchi!"
