About the family

Bradleigh Variable — a monument with a human heartbeat. Bradleigh is a variable serif inspired by the artistry of letters carved in stone — monumental, confident, and timeless. It carries two axes, Weight and Italic, allowing the design to shift from delicate engraving to bold inscription while keeping its sculptural rhythm intact. Originally conceived for a bookshop in Bordeaux, Bradleigh draws from the tradition of Eric Gill’s lapidary inscriptions, yet reinterprets it through the filter of memory and imperfection. The designer deliberately embraced the distortions created by dyslexia — irregular spacing, asymmetric rhythm — turning them into features rather than flaws. The result is a typeface that feels both crafted and alive: bold, eccentric, and deeply human. Bradleigh blends warmth and clarity, with open shapes and generous forms that improve readability for children and readers with dyslexia. Its subtle inconsistencies enhance legibility while giving it a distinctive voice. Use Bradleigh for editorial, educational, or branding projects that value authenticity and emotion over sterile precision — when you want your typography to look carved, not printed.
