Christine Voigts
The Namibian-German designer, Christine Voigts, created the font in 1999. Linotype Dropink is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the 1999 International Digital Type Design Contest for inclusion on the TakeType 3.1 CD. Playing with water and a grass-straw, writing in sand and on stone, watching the glittering drops melt away on hot rocks during childhood days on an african farm originates this spirited font. Although the blots of ink are incidentally and playful, they have a purpose, they are there to stay. They are indeed the highlight of the font, large and small, round and irregularly shaped. Linotype Dropink is intended exclusively for headlines/display and should be used in point sizes of 18 or larger. Linotype Dropink is a trademark of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, which may be registered in certain jurisdictions, exclusively licensed through Linotype GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.
