Contaformas
Contaformas is a family passion project that began as a small retail business in Argentina during the 1970s, originally known as Contaformas SA.
Mario, who started as an Olivetti salesman and later owned an IT shop, developed a profound appreciation for vintage computer manuals, drawn to their aesthetic charm, unique character, and especially their typeface design. Two decades later, his son Leonardo studied Design and Illustration, transforming some of his father's lettering into practical yet distinctive typefaces, letting the influences of French Art Deco, Italian Modernism, Bauhaus, and Argentine "Fileteado" (Hand-painted lettering) inform their design choices.
Contaformas aims to serve various industries, including editorial, technology, and fashion, setting itself apart with its unique style and meticulous attention to detail. Their first font, the freeware version of the Martina typeface, has been downloaded over 80,000 times since its release and has been featured in magazines and independent films, showcasing their commitment to quality and creativity.
