Georg Koszulinski

I have been designing for film and video for over 25 years, working at the intersection of image, story, and place. My background in film, media, and literature, has shaped the way I think about design: not simply as creating things to be seen, but as a way of telling stories and revealing character. I have always been drawn to the poetry of the American road—the diners, motels, gas stations, cars, neon signs, highways, and forgotten roadside places that carry traces of the people who passed through them. American road culture has been a lasting source of inspiration, not only for its visual richness but for its sense of possibility, loneliness, freedom, and reinvention. Working primarily in film has taught me to look closely. A worn object, a particular piece of signage, the architecture of a room, or the way a car sits in a landscape can say as much about a character as dialogue can. I’m interested in those details: the things that suggest a larger story without explaining it. My design philosophy is rooted in authenticity, curiosity, and a love of research and craft. I want the worlds I create to feel as though they existed before the camera arrived and will continue after it leaves.
