About the family

The typeface’s aesthetic was inspired by a visit to Iceland, a place dominated by square-shaped fonts and low-slung architecture—practical and spacious structures built to withstand polar winds.

Its wide proportions ensure readability even at small sizes, while the carefully calibrated x-height eliminates the need for extra line spacing. Its cool, "Nordic" character is well-suited for texts requiring a sense of detachment and impartiality—such as those concerning technology (including computing and aerospace), design, or science fiction. It is also a natural choice for projects representing Iceland or the North in general.

At larger sizes, the typeface’s modular nature and square letterforms make it ideal for logos, title sequences (including vertical layouts), and various image-text combinations, effectively structuring any visual space.

The name translates from Icelandic as "ice city", drawing a parallel with "Ísland" (Iceland).
