About the family

KunKun is a ‘handwritten sans’ – each letter looks as if it has been written with a single monolinear stroke, and its letters’ terminals are fully rounded-off and almost sausage-shaped. Three weights are available in the family, and each font each contains 406 glyphs. Standard-looking variants of g, y, and z are available via an OpenType feature in a Stylistic Set, and there are two alternate forms for the capital Q, and an optional closed-form 8 there, too, even though the default looped-descenders on the lowercase g, y, and z strengthen KunKun’s informal appearance. Despite KunKun’s informality, visible in its default character-forms, its basic proportions are in keeping with many of ITF’s text faces. For instance, its design features a large x-height and ascenders that rise above the uppercase letters. Special characters like the &, @, and § also all take typical typographic forms.

About Indian Type Foundry

Founded in 2009, the Indian Type Foundry (ITF) designs and distributes fine-quality, multilingual fonts for both the Indian and global market. ITF specialises in creating and developing both custom and retail fonts. ITF has designed and licensed fonts to some of the world’s most iconic brands including Apple, Google, Samsung, Sony, Amazon and Hyundai to name just a few. Its retail library offers fonts for text and display use, in visual styles ranging from traditional to experimental. ITF currently offers over 200 retail font families across 20 writing systems. ITF’s Kohinoor font family is on permanent display at London’s Design Museum as part of the “Designer Maker User” exhibition, which recognises this work as a historic milestone in the field of graphic design. If you're looking for a bespoke typeface or need assistance with extended licensing, please email [email protected].
