About MIR Next Font Family

MIR Next is a growing multi-script type family best described by the terms “humanist–semi–slab-serif”. Its character set contains Latin and Cyrillic, both extended, as well as Greek, covering more than 100 languages. Strong personality along with consistency between language systems were a basic aim when designing the family. As a result MIR has become a great tool for branding and international identities. A wide choice of symbols and numbers makes it also very useful for statistics, texts about mathematics and the sciences. Serious things are best be said in an unpretentious, relaxed way. MIR gives typography exactly that kind of appearance. Its texts emit a sense of authority but stay easily accessible at the same time.

MIR’s name comes from the old Russian word Мир meaning both “world” and “peace” – a unity we will hopefully take for granted sometime in the future.

About Juliasys

Juliasys Type Studio is located in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg. It was founded by Julia Sysmäläinen and partners in 2007. What we are doing there is quite simple: working hard to get quality and humor together in type design – and always adding a bit of Finnish-Russian flavor. We develop taylor-made fonts directly for clients in different corners of the world. And we publish our quality retail typefaces together with Berlin’s FontFont and Moscow’s Art Lebedev Studio or directly at Myfonts. Our clients include  Freshbooks Toronto, Monotype Germany, Mars and Propercorn London, Remes & Packart Helsinki and Harpers Publishers New York. We are especially competent in developing multifeatured scriptfonts. Many of them are based on the handwriting of remarkable personalities – like Franz Kafka, Emily Dickinson, Jean Sibelius and Laura Ingalls Wilder. FF Mister K, our award winning Kafka typeface, presents itself impressively on its own website ffmisterk.com. And Julia Sysmäläinen goes into detail about our beliefs and methods at Juliasys in her Myfonts Creative Characters interview.
