About Miss Saylor Font Family

Miss Saylor is a decorative display font inspired by an old box that I found in the basement of my 101-year-old aunt. All that was printed on the front were the words: “Miss Saylor’s French creams fruits and chocolates.” Looking at the type was like stepping into a lost century of glamor girls, big bands, and jitterbug dancing – a time when Christmas Cards and handwritten letters were mailed for 3¢. It was also a time of horrors and unimaginable deprivations. War raged across Europe, Asia, Africa and the South Pacific. It’s here in one typeface – all the baggage, the music, the mystique of a world most of us will never know except through the art that was created from that time. This typeface is a visual serenade to preserve a sparkling remnant of that era. So, enjoy. I hope it puts you ‘In the Mood.’

Typography is visual music. It has cadence, rhythm, and melody. Western typography lends itself to be shaped and sculpted and injected with personality. That's what makes designing fonts so fun and rewarding.
