About the family

Nancy Spungen is an all-caps typeface with accents, fully steeped in the rebellious spirit of punk rock. Its distorted and aggressive design recalls hand-made fanzines, underground gig flyers, and the rawest punk album covers. This font isn’t about perfection—it’s about attitude, disorder, and graphic authenticity.

The family consists of two versions, both capturing the visual chaos of punk:

Nancy Spungen, the main version, features distorted letters with a wild mix—some characters are boxed, while others are completely free. This clash between containment and disorder reinforces the disruptive nature of the typeface, making it perfect for provocative and rebellious designs.

Nancy Spungen Basic, on the other hand, keeps the distortion and irregularity but removes the boxes. It’s a slightly cleaner option visually, though equally powerful in its punk energy.

Both variants share a raw, irreverent, and completely DIY (do-it-yourself) aesthetic, as if each letter were manually cut, warped, and reassembled. Nancy Spungen is a typeface made to shout, not whisper—ideal for editorial projects, posters, covers, or any design that aims to defy conventions.
