About the family

This runic font incorporates all the runic characters I could identify, resulting in a very large and sophisticated runic font. Runes are the letters in a set of related alphabets, known as runic rows, runic alphabets or futharks, native to the Germanic peoples. Runes were primarily used to represent a sound value but they were also used to represent the concepts after which they are named. Runology is the academic study of the runic alphabets, runic inscriptions, runestones, and their history. Runology forms a specialised branch of Germanic philology. The earliest secure runic inscriptions date from at latest AD 150, with a possible earlier inscription dating to AD 50 and Tacitus's possible description of rune use from around AD 98. The Hole Runestone dates from between BC 50 and AD 275. Runes were generally replaced by the Latin alphabet as the cultures that had used runes underwent Christianisation, by approximately AD 700 in central Europe and 1100 in northern Europe. However, the use of runes persisted for specialized purposes beyond this period. Up until the early 20th century, runes were still used in rural Sweden for decorative purposes in Dalarna and on runic calendars.

About Runic World Tamgacı

As my interest in rune writings grew, it became inevitable for me to make my own fonts. It was time to put all these years of hard work into action. This foundry, named Runic World Tamgacı, was prepared as a platform for the distribution of font studies developed on Old European Runic inscriptions, Old Asian Runic inscriptions, Old Hungarian Runic inscriptions, Runic inscriptions found in Africa and Arabian geography, and Italic inscriptions such as Etruscan and Iberian. These fonts, which have high aesthetic design and a full list of letters, will serve as a wide source especially for academic studies and amateur researchers, including derivative letters. It will also please enthusiasts interested in this field. The inventory of the foundry will be constantly updated and expanded with new additions to the fonts of these mysterious ancient inscriptions. These Runic studies were made from scratch by looking at the relevant sources.
