About the family

Orelo is a high-contrast typeface that channels the dramatic elegance of Bodoni-era refinement while deliberately removing the serif. Bodoniesque in spirit yet radically sans, it distills the tension between thick and thin into a sharp, contemporary statement. The result is a silhouette-driven design where vertical stress, razor-thin hairlines, and sculpted curves create a striking visual cadence. Designed as a fashion-forward display voice, Orelo thrives on contrast – not only in weight, but in attitude. Its tall proportions and refined terminals evoke couture precision, while its clean, serifless construction keeps it modern and editorially sharp. The extreme modulation amplifies light and shadow within each letterform, giving compositions a sense of movement and spotlight drama. Despite its intensity, Orelo maintains control. Counters are carefully balanced to preserve legibility, and spacing is tuned to allow the high contrast to breathe. The tension between fragility and structure is intentional: delicate hairlines meet confident stems, producing a typographic rhythm that feels both luxurious and daring. Perfectly suited for fashion branding, magazine mastheads, luxury packaging, art direction, beauty campaigns, and high-end digital experiences, Orelo commands attention without excess. In large sizes, it becomes sculptural and iconic; in refined layouts, it delivers elegance with a sharp editorial edge. Its tone is unapologetically sophisticated – bold yet poised, dramatic yet restrained. Orelo is not neutral; it is presence. A couture-inspired sans serif built for brands that value distinction, refinement, and high-impact visual identity.

About Pizzatypefaces

An independent type foundry that designs expressive, contemporary and custom typeface for ambitious creative projects. Active on the international scene, it develops a bold and evolving catalog, designed to meet current design uses. Combining formal research, technical know-how and contemporary ideas, we create singular, functional and resolutely modern characters. His typographic heritage serves as an anchor point for a current writing: from super-families and variable fonts to more experimental characters, each creation creates a dialogue between the memory of forms and the energy of its time. The foundry also puts its expertise at the service of major brands by designing personalized characters, designed to assert strong and distinctive identities. The path of our foundry is that of a constant dialogue between heritage and innovation. We tap into typographic history to extract its essence, then reinterpret it with contemporary tools, uses and sensibilities. Whether it is superfamilies, variable fonts or more singular characters, our ambition is to create durable, expressive and useful fonts, able to accompany strong brand identities as well as demanding cultural projects.
