About the family

Prachak is a typeface inspired by the Pong typeface family, particularly the Pong Mai typeface. The Pong typefaces became popular after the 1932 Siamese Revolution, during a period of rapid growth in the newspaper industry. Pong was used in newspaper headlines to create eye-catching, prominent displays. The Prachak typeface is a reinterpretation by Jipatype, modified for simplicity and enhanced style, offering 18 different variations. It supports both Thai and Latin-1 characters.

About Jipatype

Jipatype is a one-man type foundry based in Bangkok, Thailand, officially established in 2022 but operating since 2019 by Anupap Jaichumnan. The foundry's name comes from the Thai word จิปาถะ, which translates to "miscellaneous", "assorted", or "various". This reflects the variety of design approaches and influences that are present in its typefaces. Jipatype creates fonts that blend traditional Thai design elements with modern typography trends. Each typeface is developed with careful attention to both aesthetic details and practical usability, making them suitable for a range of design projects. The work at Jipatype is characterized by a straightforward and functional approach to design, without unnecessary embellishment, aiming to provide clear and effective typographic solutions.
