About the family

Reiner Initials is a decorative lettering set developed as a companion to the Reiner Neue system. Drawing from Imre Reiner’s characteristic approach to form and gesture, the initials reinterpret expressive letter shapes within a contemporary typographic context. While rooted in ornamental thinking, the forms are carefully refined to remain structurally aligned with Reiner Neue, allowing them to integrate naturally into editorial layouts, branding applications, and typographic compositions. The set is designed to function as an accent layer, introducing emphasis, contrast, and personality without disrupting visual continuity. Reiner Initials is not a standalone display font but a complementary tool within a wider typographic system, offering designers an expressive extension that enriches the overall typographic voice.

About Monovo

Monovo is the conceptual type universe of Amondó Szegi, emerging from the long-standing practice of Fontanatype Foundry, founded in 1999. Amondó Szegi’s work is driven by a deep fascination with the living nature of letters and their evolving role in design. Fontanatype, Hungary’s first internationally recognized digital type foundry, bridges historical reference and contemporary practice, translating rhythm, structure, and typographic intelligence into usable type systems that honor tradition without replicating it. Monovo builds on this legacy through a focused, conceptual lens. It reflects the belief that letterforms are not static artefacts but dynamic tools of communication, shaped by history, culture, and practical use — from editorial text to expressive design. Inspired by both the long lineage of typographic forms and the playful challenge of breaking rules with intention, Monovo creates flat, iconic, and versatile typefaces that speak with clarity, warmth, and purpose. Through Monovo, Szegi continues to explore appropriation, revival, and reinterpretation, treating letters as conceptual ready-made objects while expanding the creative possibilities of type for contemporary design.
