Shahrazed 2.0 — Arabic & Latin Type Family

Shahrazed 2.0 is an Arabic and Latin type family inspired by traditional Naskh scripts and the distinctive calligraphy of the Maghreb. Designed for those who value cultural authenticity alongside contemporary clarity, it elegantly bridges heritage and modern design.

This updated version keeps all six styles of the family while refining how they work together. Traditional ligatures have been deliberately reduced in favor of contextual ligatures and alternates (calt, clig), allowing smoother, more fluid composition and intelligent automatic character substitution — without compromising aesthetics, legibility, or visual comfort.

The x-height has been fully redesigned to harmonize the Arabic and Latin scripts, ensuring balanced rendering whether your text is set in a single language or mixes both scripts within the same paragraph. This makes Shahrazed 2.0 a natural fit for multilingual branding, editorial design, and mixed-language layouts.

At the crossroads of calligraphic tradition and digital demands, Shahrazed 2.0 works equally well for display and text applications — from logos, packaging, and headlines to book covers and web design. Its expressive, flowing Maghrebi character carries authentic cultural weight while remaining perfectly adapted to contemporary use, whether in print or on screen.

About GrafikarFonts

The Arabic writing is fundamentally based on the calligraphic look and the relation between the letters that shift shape at each connection between them. GrafikarFonts’s aim is to create fonts out of Arabic symbols that’s influenced from this calligraphic tradition all while keeping in touch with a modern and digital world, making sure to match to practical needs as well. Often, in the Arabic language, we have to write words from Latin and that’s another goal of GrafikarFonts; to design smooth Arabic, Latin and Tamazight Tifinagh fonts that harmonize together.
