About the family

It's my first typographic family, made experimentally while learning more and more about typography every day. Its irregular shapes are evident, and in a way, they brought singular originality to its design. Is an ugly duckling that deserves to be shown to start a journey.

With closed curved glyphs like a, c, s, and proper width, this type can be used for text and display without the need to have another font. Uppercase and oblique letters can make an impact, and some alternate terminations from d, h, m, n, and u, can make an elegant appearance to your project.

Caribantu Grotesque

About Lamatype

Lamatype is an independent Brazilian foundry founded in 2020 by Graphic Designer Renan Bassan. Renan's initial interest was in grotesque typefaces, using this style to develop his understanding of typography and release his first font entitled "Caribantu Grotesque." Over time, with new acquired knowledge, Caribantu Grotesque evolved with touches of a new design and refinements, leading to the release of "Caribantu Agora" two years later. With a significant appreciation for typographic tradition, studies based on revivals will be part of the foundry's future.
