About the family

Hand drawn by Michael Browers, Ekkehard is inspired by multiple blackletter typefaces that appeared in an 1862 printing of "The Doctrine of the Simple and the Power of the Powerless" by Hans Nielsen Hauge. The result is an eclectic distressed font that is ideal for logos, product packaging, headlines, posters, merchandise, greeting cards, and other projects requiring a vintage, hand-made feel.

About Michael Browers

Michael Browers is a designer, illustrator, and typographer focused on creating type with character. His work is rooted in the belief that type should convey personality, tone, and intent. His influences include mid-century illustration, hand-drawn lettering, vintage print ephemera, children’s books, comics, and editorial design. These references inform a style that values warmth, clarity, and human imperfection over sterile precision. Subtle irregularities are intentional, adding charm without sacrificing consistency or performance. Michael’s foundry is for designers, educators, publishers, and storytellers who value expressive, thoughtfully crafted typography. His fonts are tools for communication designed to support storytelling, invite engagement, and bring personality back to the page.
