About the family

Gaz is built for bold words in tight spaces. Its squared forms and compact widths channel the stovepipe lettering once brushed onto gas pumps, oil drums, and corrugated shop walls. The corners are softened just enough to keep it approachable, while its blocky silhouette carries the unmistakable authority of vintage industrial signage.

Small caps run wider than the uppercase, a subtle quirk borrowed from old sign-painter habits; when mixed, they create a rhythm that feels hand-lettered rather than mechanical. Seven weights and matching italics range from hairline precision to heavy steel plate, while five integrated distressed styles bring an authentic, worn-in texture that looks embedded, not pasted on.

Gaz handles more than nostalgia—it’s a practical workhorse for today’s designers. Use it in brewery and café branding, roadside-inspired packaging, mid-century-flavored editorial layouts, or wayfinding where space is scarce but impact is essential. Whether you choose it clean or weathered, Gaz delivers a distinctly American industrial voice that’s as ready for modern workflows as it is for a trip down a back highway.
