About the family

Octynaz isn’t shy about making a mess—and that’s exactly the point. Its blocky letterforms are battered, scraped, and over-inked, with smudges that spill far beyond the edges and into their neighbors. Every word looks like it’s been hammered onto the page with a fistful of wet ink and a stubborn disregard for cleanliness. Thanks to extensive ligatures and alternates, those smudges change from one letter pairing to the next, so your lines feel spontaneous and handmade, never mechanically repeated.

This isn’t just another “grunge” typeface; Octynaz is dense, heavy, and unapologetically loud. The filled counters give it a solid slab of presence, while the textures add grit that you can almost hear. It’s the typographic equivalent of feedback squeal, spray paint on brick, or a well-used rubber stamp slamming onto rough cardboard.

Octynaz thrives wherever raw, high-impact messaging matters. Imagine it screaming from a punk gig flyer stapled to a telephone pole; stamped across guerrilla political posters; slathered on a craft beer can or hot sauce bottle; emblazoned on packaging for survival gear, workwear, or outdoor tools; tearing across the cover of a graphic novel; or headlining a line of energy drinks and skateboards. It works on rugged consumer goods, from thermoses and backpacks to mountain bike decals and tactical flashlights—anywhere your design needs to feel like it’s been through something and come out tougher.

Whether you’re branding a chili cook-off, a demolition derby, a roadside BBQ joint, or a post-punk zine, Octynaz gives you lettering that refuses to be polite. It’s not here to whisper. It’s here to hit hard, leave a mark, and make sure no one walks past without looking twice.
