Located in the greater Chicago area, TipografiaRamis was established in 2004 by Ramiz Guseynov. The Russian-born designer was educated as an architect and began his career working at ad agencies and design studios – fields that sparked a deep interest in typography. He began submitting fonts to the T26 foundry, but as his interest and talent in the field grew, he decided to establish his own one-man enterprise.
He made his MyFonts debut with Egon, an extensive slab-serif family, and Volt, a set of serif display fonts, which were both released in April 2008. Since then, TipografiaRamis has gone on to produce best selling typefaces like Decima, a display face whose design was based on a monoline condensed typeface. The well-received family was featured as a Rising Star and then followed up with several subfamilies including Decima Pro, Decima Mono, and Decima Round.
With nearly 50 designs in his library, Ramiz has a seemingly simple, yet startling effective mantra: “I keep my eternal trend: Less is more and more is less.”
