Type Matters

type matters is a type and graphic design studio specializing in the development of original typefaces founded by Jürgen Weltin. type matters does typographic consultancy, custom type work for various clients, optimizing corporate fonts and extending their language support. The first typeface family by Jürgen Weltin, named Finnegan was licensed into the Linotype typeface library in 1997 and received a Certificate of Excellence in Type Design at bukva:raz! (first type design competition of ATypI). Other designs also include the display, stencil-like typeface Balega, the 33 styles of the Agilita sans serif typeface family, Mantika Informal, an easy to read typeface with reading beginners in mind, brought into form through a slightly inclined Italic to bridge the gap between a handwriting script and a first reading typeface. Then came Mantika Sans which was designed to be clearly legible in small sizes. It received an award at Granshan International Eastern Type Design Competition in 2010 for its Greek alphabet. A serif companion typeface family called Mantika Book followed in 2014.
