About the family

Black Bart Shotgun is the battered, timeworn sibling of Black Bart—an aged wood type display face that looks like it’s been weathered for decades, with erosion, pitting, and chipped-paint texture like an old barn sign that’s survived every storm. Bold, gritty, and unapologetically rough, it brings instant outlaw character to headlines and branding that want a heavy western voice with authentic wear baked in. Black Bart Shotgun includes the same rich OpenType feature set as the original, giving you built-in variety and visual “handmade” rhythm without extra effort. Stylistic alternates offer additional character flavors and multiple starting and middle swash options, while special word ligatures for OF, THE, and AND add classic poster utility. Contextual alternates provide alternate forms for those word ligatures and help typography feel less repetitive, making it easy to dial in anything from rugged and restrained to rowdy and flamboyant. Perfect for western graphics, distressed signage, vintage packaging, bourbon and hot sauce labels, band posters, outlaw branding, apparel, editorial headlines, rodeo and festival promos, and any project that needs bold wood type energy with rough, eroded texture and a deep stash of typographic tricks.

About Fontasmic

Fontasmic is a type foundry born from a deep affection for the tactile soul of wood type, the spontaneous beauty of ephemeral design, and the charm of typography that refuses to follow the rules. Each Fontasmic creation celebrates the unpredictable—where classic craftsmanship meets a restless curiosity for the offbeat and the obscure. Drawing inspiration from vintage posters, forgotten sign painting traditions, and the imperfect textures of print history, Fontasmic channels the spirit of typographic exploration into every curve and counter. With a collection that thrives on character and quirk, the foundry embraces both the wild and the refined—fonts that carry stories, personalities, and a hint of rebellion. Whether bold and brash or subtle and strange, Fontasmic typefaces are made for designers who seek more than letters on a page—they seek emotion, history, and the spark of the unexpected.
