About the family

Boquin is a bold slab serif typeface built for impact. Its thick strokes, sturdy block serifs, and slightly irregular outlines give it a handcrafted, vintage feel — somewhere between an old western saloon sign and a circus poster. It's a display face first and foremost: confident, chunky, and built to be seen from across the room rather than read in a paragraph.

Each letterform has a strong, blocky structure with subtle variations in stroke width that add warmth and texture without sacrificing punch. The serifs are thick and squared off, giving the typeface a sturdy, almost carved appearance, while small notches and inktraps in the joints hint at a traditional printing process — wood type, rubber stamps, old advertising signage. It's playful but grounded, nostalgic but not fragile.

About Le Bailly Fonts

Le Bailly Fonts is a type foundry built around the work of Jacques Le Bailly, better known as Baron von Fonthausen, in partnership with Ligado Studio, managed by Joana Correia and Paley Dreier. If you’ve spent any time reading on a screen, you’ve almost certainly seen letterforms Jacques has drawn, as he had a hand in designing some of the world’s most ubiquitous fonts, including Montserrat and Nunito Sans. Jacques studied type design at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and has been drawing type for over two decades, including with prestigious foundries like Lineto, House Industries, Bold Monday, and The Enschedé Font Foundry. Le Bailly Fonts’ new, original typefaces exude humor and playfulness without sacrificing practicality and usefulness.
