About the family

With the popularity of one of my first designs, Impact Label, I created this new and improved version. The letters have been designed based on a very different vintage Dymo gun. The letterforms are much more square giving the typeface a more modern look. I took the time to add most of the Latin Pro characters and added the most common double Ligatures.

The release was delayed for 14 years because of a glitch with Adobe InDesign handling the double ligature (AA, BB, CC etc.). Indesign added an extra character space over top of the ligature. This is only a problem when you have a non-invisible character space, like this font has.

Now you can correct this bug of default paragraph engine miscalculating glyph widths. By swapping the engine forces InDesign to rebuild the text boundaries.

How to do this:

1. Highlight your text or select your Paragraph Style.

2. Go to the Paragraph Panel menu (top right corner lines) or edit your style sheet.

3. Locate the composer settings in the Paragraph Panel.

3. Switch from Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer to Adobe Paragraph Composer (or vice versa).

About Tension Type

Hello, I’m Michael Tension, the designer for Tension Type. I mostly create display fonts. I love typography, as I’m sure all type designers do. At least I hope they all do. Any maybe you do as well since you’re on the MyFonts website. Or maybe letters frighten you and you’re only here to face that fear? Are you starting to wonder why you’re taking the time to read this? I’m just babbling. This has to be a minimum of 350 characters so I’m just filling up space. Thanks for reading this!
