About the family

Scusso is a display typeface with a focus on authenticity, passion and personality. It has a distinct cut-and-paste aesthetic and handcrafted character, inspired by mid-century posters and album covers.

In short:

  • Display typeface with spirit, personality & distinction.

  • 2650 glyphs in font.

  • Each letter, numeral and select punctuation exists in 8 visually unique versions.

  • Premium OpenType feature: Advanced Contextual Alternates.

  • Language support covers over 200 Latin-based languages.

  • Bold and playful typeface.

Aesthetics

Its irregular contours and subtle distortions suggest a handmade process, as if each letter were manually cut to form words and then duplicated on a low-quality photocopier to achieve its worn and imperfect look. With this visual foundation, Scusso is a great fit for bold and expressive design projects such as book covers, album art, branding, posters and packaging.

Language Support

The character set includes over 2,600 glyphs and a wide range of diacritics, offering full Latin Plus support and covering over 200 Latin-based languages spoken worldwide.

Advanced Contextual Alternates

More than just a typeface with personality, Scusso also includes a powerful contextual alternates feature for maximum typographic expression. Each letter, numeral and select punctuation or symbol exists in eight visually unique versions – one default and seven alternates. An advanced OpenType feature automatically substitutes between these variants, creating visual variation and a handcrafted appearance. By cycling glyphs based on their context, the system avoids repetition and introduces a sense of randomness. While not entirely foolproof, it promotes visual uniqueness. Users can also manually choose alternates via Stylistic Sets. The feature is available in any professional design software that supports the OpenType “Contextual Alternates” setting.

Premium Typeface

Scusso combines expressive design, advanced typographic logic and extensive language support in a premium type system. With a distinctive voice that elevates any design project, Scusso is more than a typeface. It’s a creative instrument designed for lasting visual impact.

About More Etc

More Etc. Studios is a Swedish independent type foundry dedicated to creating unique and expressive typefaces. Building on over two decades of experience in graphic design and art direction, particularly within the music industry, the foundry was established as a natural extension of the RBRT CREATIVE design studio run by Robert Samsonowitz. Initially focused on crafting fonts for specific design projects, More Etc smoothly transitioned into the development of commercial typefaces. Driven by a deep appreciation for underground aesthetics and a passion for the unconventional, More Etc is engaged with the intention to introduce typefaces with spirit, personality, and distinction into this world.
