Sofia Carli

As a graphic design student and aspiring type designer, I am passionate about minimal and geometric visual languages. Typography fascinates me; I love how different typefaces can transform the feeling, tone, and personality of a project. Typography communicates visually before words are read, shaping the atmosphere of a design through form, rhythm, and detail. My focus is on sans-serif type design, where I explore balance, spacing, proportions, and simple geometric forms to create clean, contemporary, and expressive typefaces. I am drawn to minimalist aesthetics and structured visual systems while experimenting with subtle details that add personality and uniqueness to a typeface. Curiosity drives my creative process: I research visual references, study existing typefaces, and discover new ways typography communicates beyond its functional purpose. I view typography as a powerful tool for storytelling and emotional expression, whether I am working on a typeface, branding project, or visual composition. Inspired by contemporary design culture, editorial design, architecture, and digital aesthetics, I think critically about structure, composition, and visual clarity. I co-founded Typ2 with a close friend, a collaborative space for research, experimentation, and creative exploration. Through Typ2, we delve into typography and graphic design, sharing interests in contemporary aesthetics, minimalism, and visual identity systems. This project fosters idea exchange, experimentation, and the development of a visual language that reflects precision and curiosity. I am committed to learning, refining my skills, and expanding my design perspective.
