About the family

Stella Decorex, is an uppercase titling typeface in a wedge-shaped form, which was designed based on the sign of a store in the city of Kavala, Greece. This type of letter is often found in various store signs and corporate logos, with the most characteristic being that of the company “IZOLA”. Stella Decorex consists of three styles: display, outline and shadow which can be combined in one to create an effect. In addition to capital letters, it includes small capital letters – slightly parameterized and with a randomness in height.

Stella Decorex is part of Stella Project - Calligraphy à la greka, an attempt to study the forgotten art of greek calligraphy that flourished from the ’50s through the ’70s – an indirect conversation with the colleagues of the past. It’s a study on the tools and techniques of the time, a work of classification, documentation and adaptation of these special styles to modern media and communication tools.
