About the family

Technical-looking typefaces often suggest technology without looking particularly comfortable on an actual piece of equipment. Syndra works better when the typography has to live on the product itself. Its rounded rectangular construction, clipped transitions and open-ended strokes feel at home beside molded housings, recessed controls, display windows and other pieces of industrial design.

Across seven upright weights from Thin through Extra-Bold, the same construction changes character substantially. The lighter styles have an almost schematic quality, while the heavier weights become dense and enclosure-like. That range makes it possible to build product names, model designations, short labels and display hierarchy from one visual system.

Portable speakers, battery packs, cameras, laser measuring tools, 3D printers and electronic instruments all give Syndra’s geometry somewhere tangible to belong. It also suits newer categories of engineered domestic hardware: EV chargers, home batteries, solar inverters, heat pumps and e-bike electrical components. The mechanical structure feels credible on equipment, while the rounded corners keep it from becoming severe.

Medical, diagnostic and recovery equipment offer another useful territory. Physiotherapy devices, dental equipment, lab instruments and fitness machinery can use Syndra for brand names, product families, model numbers and large interface labels, leaving specifications and longer instructions to a quieter companion face.

The lighter weights also work well in science-centre exhibitions, industrial-design presentations, technology museums and engineering graphics, where short headings, callouts and diagram labels can share a visual language with heavier display titles. Syndra’s strength is not simply that it looks technical; it gives engineered products and technical environments lettering that feels designed alongside the objects themselves.
