The design world around me has a funny language. When I look at letterforms, I hear the swoops, the boinks, the plops. I feel a real good typeface should take the reader on an adventure somewhere. Each letterform has to have its own appropriate definition, its own unique character, its own heart. A city street is made up of shops, sounds, smells and the people there– and when you remove these... I'm not sure what's left of the street then.
