About the family

Strange Alphabets is where Victorian ornament meets post-punk attitude. Its tall, tightly spaced letterforms echo the elegance of Arts & Crafts-era book covers, yet the sharp verticals and sly quirks nod to the underground cool of the Siouxsie & the Banshees logo. It’s a typeface that can feel like a piece of antique lettering one moment and a band flyer pinned to a damp brick wall the next.

The magic is in its details. Diamond-dot ornaments can be summoned at the start and end of words for a jeweled, ceremonial feel. Tall, commanding O’s become instant focal points in headlines. Double-O ligatures intertwine into custom symbols. Alternate A’s and H’s carry their own ring-like flourishes, while even the humble dash can become a miniature ornament. These built-in smart features let you dial the drama up or down, moving from stark and stripped to lush and decorative without changing fonts.

Perfect for album art, tour posters, and music merch with a gothic or alternative edge. Ideal for boutique fashion branding, high-drama book covers, theatrical posters, artisan spirits, or craft packaging where detail is part of the product’s story. Strange Alphabets thrives in high-contrast monochrome or metallic foil, making it just as at home in gritty gig venues as it is in luxury print.

Strange Alphabets is a bridge between centuries of style. Dress it up in gold and filigree or strip it back to raw black and white. Either way, it speaks with a voice that’s tall, proud, and impossible to ignore.
